Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. They must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited college or university during the fall or spring term following the application deadline. They must be studying or planning to study a health care-related subject and must submit a 1,250- to 1,500-word essay on the topic of how to prevent accidental needle-stick injuries. Selection is based on the overall strength of the essay.
