Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time at a four-year public or nonprofit college. Students must complete the FAFSA. Applicants must also write an essay describing their experiences either working or living in a diverse environment and answer the following questions: 1. "What does public health mean to you?" and 2. "What public health aspect do you intend to practice and what are the health/population issues impacted by that aspect?" Selection is based on financial need and the overall strength of the application. Preference is given to applicants who come from or work in diverse environments; individuals who work in public health or graduate students with majors in public health; and undergraduates going into their junior or senior year health programs.
