For the undergraduate scholarship, applicants must be in their second or third year of college and expect to major in science or a related field. For the graduate scholarship, students must have been admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. in a life or physical science or engineering program. Selection is based on academic achievement, the importance of the research question addressed, quality of the research, reference letters and the applicants' potential for future contributions to science and related fields.
