BPW Foundation’s mission is to empower working women to achieve their full potential and to partner with employers to build successful workplaces. The BPW Foundation was established in 1956 to promote equity for workingwomen through education, information, research, and financial assistance as well as to serve as a resource on issues affecting women in the workplace. The BPW Foundation is supported by foundations, corporations, BPW/USA members, and other individuals who share a common belief in equity for working- women. The BPW Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax deductible organization, has awarded more than $6 million in loans, scholarships, and grants to over 8,000 women seeking to improve their lives. Central to the BPW Foundation’s mission is the belief that support for women at crucial points in their lives enables them to help themselves. The BPW Foundation established the Career Advancement Scholarship Program in 1969 to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged women seeking to further their education. Scholarships are provided to women, 25 years of age or older, who wish to advance in their careers, or are soon to enter or re-enter the workforce. BPW Foundation receives approximately 1,000 Career Advancement Scholarship applications each year for between 50 and 100 awards. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,000. Scholars for this year’s competition will be notified by July 31, 2007. 2007-2008 Career Advancement Scholarship Criteria To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must: + Be a female + Be at least 25 years of age by May 2, 2007 + Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national + Demonstrate critical financial need + Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $2500 or less + Be officially accepted into an accredited degree or certificate program at an accredited U.S. college or university, including those in American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands + Plan to graduate or receive certification between December 1, 2007, and August 31, 2009 + Demonstrate clear career plans + Not be earning a doctoral-level or terminal degree, such as a PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, JD, etc.
