College Is Power Scholarship

The College Is Power scholarship is open to students who are 17 and older and either currently in college, or planning to start college within the next 12 months. Applicants may be full-time, part-time, or online students, and must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. One winner will be selected as the recipient of the $1,500 scholarship. There are three separate deadlines on August 31, Decemeber 31, and May 31.

The Barron Prize

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is an annual award that celebrates young leaders who have made significant differences to people and the planet. Each year, 25 young people are nominated for the $2,500 prize. Nominees between the ages of 8 and 18 must have participated in their heroic work within twelve months of being nominated by the April 30 deadline.

JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest

The Profile in Courage Essay Contest invites high school students in the United States to consider the concept of political courage by writing an essay about a U.S. official who has chosen to do something that is right, versus what is expedient. The winner of this contest is awarded a $10,000 prize, while a second place winner receives $1,000, and up to five additional finalists each receive $500. Students may register and submit essays beginning September 1. The contest deadline is January 7.

For Caring Award nominations, the Caring Institute seeks successful candidates who are role models possessing an extraordinary sense of public service, and a long-term commitment to social improvement. Young adults may be nominated for the $2,000 scholarship before high school graduation, or their eighteenth birthdays. The deadline for nominations is March 1

Youth Partners Accessing Capital Scholarship

The Youth P.A.C. Scholarship is open to all members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, who are college sophomores or higher, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional academic achievement or extreme financial need, and participates in volunteer or leadership activities. All applications and supporting documents have a postmark deadline of August 15.

Scholarship Detective is awarding two $1,500 scholarships to applicants who describe how they will use their award money if chosen. A second chance scholarship will also be awarded at random to another applicant. The deadline for entry is August 31.

Daniel Leek Memorial Research Scholarship

Students whose research is accepted to the Naturopathic Medical Student Association, who submit a research poster by July 31, will be considered for this scholarship. Applicants should display excellence in naturopathic research, demonstrate clear objectives, and display enthusiasm for their knowledge. A $500 award will be given to the scholarship recipient.

Brown Aveda Institute Scholarship

The Brown Aveda Institute is encouraging applicants to complete an essay and answer relevent questions for this scholarship selection. If selected, the recipient will participate in an event where they select a model to style. Three winners will be chosen from this competition, and given full scholarships to attend either of the Brown Aveda Institute's locations. Applications should be complete by August 5.
