In an effort to provide better opportunities for young people pursuing performing arts careers, American Harlequin established an annual "Dance Scholarship Program." Our first annual program in 1999 resulted in $10,000 in scholarship monies being awarded. Now we award $25,000 each year to twenty lucky individuals. Just as we did in previous years, since we are not in a position to judge the artistic merits or financial situation of the applicants, we will have a random drawing to select the winners. We leave the nominations to you, the teachers, to make a judgment about the students you support. Our hope is to offer a little financial help to some lucky young people who wish to continue in whatever form of dance helps fulfill their lives. All the applicant information must be filled in. The certification is then to be completed by the dance instructor.

On March 22, 2007, a bunch of podcasters are aiming to game the charts in the iTunes Music Store for at least a day by asking everyone involved in podcasting to buy just one song, a specific song, Mine Again by Black Lab, that day. The effort, called Bum Rush the Charts, is designed to demonstrate to old media that podcasting has reach and more importantly, purchasing power.
The followup hit me just as quickly. We'll turn this into a scholarship opportunity, too. Until yesterday, the Pell Grant had no sizeable increases in years. Federal financial aid isn't keeping pace with the cost of a college education. Let's put it all together. We demonstrate the power of podcasting, pool a bunch of affiliate fees together, and help a needy college student pay for college with the profits.
Not only will we give 100% of the affiliate fees earned, SLN will match dollar for dollar the first $1,000 in affiliate fees earned through the Financial Aid Podcast bum rush link.
Now, if you're a college student enrolled at an accredited institution, and you want to be eligible for the Bum Rush Tuition Scholarship, how do you get involved? Simple. We're going to use our existing scholarship program, Scholarship Points. Set up your free profile there, enter promo code BUMRUSH, and on March 31, 2007, along with our regular quarterly scholarship awards, we'll host the Bum Rush Tuition Scholarship award as well.
How much will the scholarship be? That all depends on you. My audience, your audience, your friends. Spread the word about Bum Rush the Charts.

he HP Scholar Award is a scholarship opportunity for students interested in engineering. The total value of the four-year cash scholarship, HP Scholar Productivity Package and the three paid internships will exceed $40,000 per student. Scholarship awards are $12,000 ($3000 per year for four years) and are intended to help defray educational expenses. Upon acceptance into the program, each HP Scholar receives a Productivity Package which includes an HP laptop, printer, and PDA. HP Scholars are eligible for three paid summer internships with HP at one of our US locations during the course of their undergraduate work.
The HP Scholar program offers scholarship opportunities to underrepresented minority (African American, Latino, or American Indian) students who will pursue a bachelor of science degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering at an HP Scholar partnership university. High school seniors and community college transfer that are preparing to attend one of our partnership universities are invited to apply for this scholarship prior to enrollment at the university.

Deadline for Western Civilization Fellowships is February 15th of the year in which they will be awarded.
Early in this century, Jose Ortega y Gassett observed that the mere preservation of a high culture requires the deployment of "incalculably subtle powers." Still greater effort and imagination seem called for today, when the academic guardians of culture have committed themselves to questionable theories that deny the very possibility of knowledge. An enthusiasm for pedagogic multiculturalism has led the professoriate in search of wisdom seemingly everywhere except in their own Western Tradition. Yet very often the ethical "discoveries" made turn out to be nothing but debased forms of originally Western ideas.
Late in the modern age, we have become so alienated from our tradition that the West is terra incognita to us. The Western Tradition constitutes a fragile achievement that liberal ironists ignore at their peril. The ISI Western Civilization Fellowship Program is designed to address our culture's loss of memory by supporting at the graduate level the study of the institutions, values, and history of the West. The intricate process of renewing our civilization will be immeasurably aided by a new generation of scholars who value the Western heritage.
