NYU Harvey Beker MBA Graduate Scholarship

The Harvey Beker Scholarship program was established in 2005 by Harvey Beker, MBA 1975. For Fall 2006, two $10,000 Beker scholarships will be awarded to first-year, full-time MBA students. The scholarship is renewable for the second year based on good academic standing. The Harvey Beker Scholarship program intends to foster an interest in philanthropy and create a group of like-minded Stern alumni who understand the importance of giving back to the School. Within five years of graduation, the Beker Scholars ideally will begin to share their success and start giving back to Stern. Thus, they will enable future students to excel and succeed. All incoming first-year admitted students are invited to apply for the scholarship. The application consists of an essay and one page resume. The essay should be no longer than two pages, double-spaced, and should answer the following questions: * Why would you like to be considered for the scholarship? * How have you helped others succeed through your contributions? * How do you intend to contribute to Stern as an alumnus/a? * How will you enable future students to excel at Stern? Applications are due by Friday, September 8, 2006, and should be sent to the MBA Financial Aid office at fin-aid@stern.nyu.edu. Recipients will be notified during the fall semester.

BP Community Scholarship Program

BP Employees and dealers began the community scholarship program in 1987 as a way to invest in the success of youth in neighborhoods where BP operates businesses. Since its inception 22 years ago, the New York and New Jersey area scholarship program has provided nearly $2.5 million resulting in over 1,550 college scholarships. Each year our scholarship awardees are honored at a scholarship reception. This annual event provides an opportunity to recognize the scholarship awardees along with their families and also provides an opportunity for our students to meet BP representatives and other invited dignitaries. BP is pleased to support this initiative as a way of giving back to the communities in which we operate by encouraging local high school seniors to pursue their dreams of going to college.

SUNY Graduate Tuition Scholarship Program for EOP, HEOP, and SEEK Students

What is the Tuition Scholarship Program and who is eligible? The Graduate Opportunity Program Tuition Scholarship is for former EOP, HEOP or SEEK program graduates. Acceptance into the program is determined at the campus to which the student has applied and depends, in part, on the number of scholarships allocated to that campus. All applicants, however, must be enrolled in a graduate program at a participating SUNY campus. This special scholarship for disadvantaged students reflects SUNY's concerted efforts to expand educational opportunities to underserved constituencies. What will the graduate tuition scholarship provide? The graduate tuition scholarship will provide students with financial support to cover tuition and costs at a participating SUNY graduate and professional school where they qualify for admission. How is the program supported? A special appropriation supports the tuition scholarship program. This funding has been provided to encourage graduates of special programs to pursue graduate degrees in such critical fields as business, science, engineering, health sciences, mathematics, and computer technology. Prior to this support, SUNY was unable to expand significantly educational opportunities for disadvantaged students who wished to continue studies beyond the baccalaureate degree. What is the application procedure? All students must apply directly to the SUNY Graduate School of their choice. A listing of campuses where these schools are located is contained in this publication. Written documentation of a student's prior status as an opportunity program student is required for the Graduate Opportunity Tuition Scholarship Program. Students who are interested in graduate study are urged to also consult with their EOP/HEOP Director. What fields of study are open at the graduate level? Discipline areas are diversified as well as comprehensive and include biological sciences, literature, social sciences, business and management, fine and applied arts, foreign language, health sciences, education, physical sciences, engineering, computer technology and law.
