Requirements: * Applicant is enrolled in an aviation related program to an accredited college, university, trade school, approved training center (Part 61, Part 141), or in current training with a certified flight instructor or A&P Mechanic * Applicant has completed at least 4 semesters or 25% of the work toward the chosen goal, ie., Commercial Pilot License or A&P Certificate * Applicant intends to use training to work in Alaska * Applicant has maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 or if not enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school can provide letter of recommendation from current instructor attesting to commitment of student to applicable training endeavor * Applicant has no felony convictions Award Amount: 3 Scholarships awarded @ $2,500 each Deadline: September 30, 2006

Alaska Geological Society Scholarships

One of AGS’s primary goals is to help renew this important resource of practicing geoscientists by working to attract and to support other dedicated students to this exciting field. Whatever your personal goals, if you are one of these dedicated individuals, we want to offer you encouragement and an opportunity to obtain additional financial support to further your education. As in the past, the Alaska Geological Society has scholarship funding available for deserving undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at Alaskan universities. Decisions are based upon individual merit, as decided by consensus of the AGS Scholarship Committee. Application deadline is April 1, 2006. Scholarship winners will be notified prior to the May 2006 AGS luncheon.
