The Edison International Public Scholarship rewards public high school students who show potential for a successful college career and have a financial need. The scholarship is part of Edison’s 45-year tradition of investing in the future by making the dream of a college education a reality for deserving students.
Awards
Each award recipient will receive a $2,500 award, renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Total award per recipient over four years is $10,000.
Up to 30 awards will be granted each year, and awards are for undergraduate study only.
Award renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and continued full-time enrollment in one of the designated fields of study at one of the eligible colleges or universities, and continuation of the program by Edison International.
Scholarship recipients may be offered internship or summer employment opportunities with Southern California Edison.
Who Is Eligible?
Public high school seniors who meet the following requirements:
* Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 to 3.5
* Have met California State University placement standards for entry-level baccalaureate coursework as defined by the Early Assessment Program test results (http://www.calstate.edu/eap?external)
* Plan to major in any of the following disciplines: Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, Business or Economics
* Plan to attend a four-year college in or adjacent to Edison’s service territory

* Be a citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.
Dependents of Edison International employees or retirees are not eligible for the Public Scholarship Program.
How Can I Apply?
To be considered for an award, applicants must submit a completed application along with:
* Academic record
* A letter verifying the applicant has met the California State University placement standards
* Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience
* Statement of career and educational goals and aspirations
* A letter of recommendation
