Kentucky Equine Education Project Scholarship new

The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) board of directors has announced an annual $1,000 scholarship program for five in-state undergraduate students working toward a career in the equine industry. The KEEP Scholarship will be awarded to legal Kentucky residents, who are full-time juniors or seniors in college. The potential students also must have a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale and be current KEEP members. The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide assistance to students pursuing a career in the horse industry and demonstrating a commitment to Kentucky's equine heritage. Eligible students must also demonstrate financial need, academic success, hard work, and determination. The deadline for this year's scholarship is June 15. All five winners will be awarded before the start of the fall 2006 semester.

Rensselaer Medal Program new

Rensselaer Medal Program For more than 85 years, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in conjunction with high schools around the world, has awarded the Rensselaer Medal. This is awarded to promising secondary school juniors who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science. The responsibility for selecting the Rensselaer Medalist belongs to faculty and staff within the participating secondary school. The Medal was first presented in 1916 with two purposes: to recognize the superlative academic achievement of young men and women, and to motivate students toward careers in science, engineering, and technology. This $15,000 per year merit scholarship is guaranteed for four years (five years for the School of Architecture program) for each medalist who is accepted and chooses to enroll at Rensselaer. A Note to High School Counselors Register your Medalist selection now If you know of a promising junior in your high school who has done outstanding work in the areas of mathematics and science, you may register your selection with Rensselaer's Medalist Program via our password-protected website. (The web address for the online form is included in the Rensselaer Medalist packet which is only sent to participating high schools.)
