Sculpture Space Sculpture Artists Residency

Artists are invited to apply for a residency between Sep 2007 - Aug 2008. Twenty new artists are selected each year and each receives a $2000 stipend to help with residency expenses. The selection is made by the Sculpture Space Review Committee and a rotating guest panelist in December. Artists are notified in February of the panel's decision. Primary criteria are quality, originality, and potential for growth. The facility consists of 5,000 square feet of open studio space, and two 400 square foot private studios. The studio is located in downtown Utica. Subsidized shared apartment within walking distance of the studio is available at low cost to artists. (Housing is free for NYS and NJ artists.) Artists have daily, 24-hour studio access and are expected to stay for a full 2-month work stay. Artists are responsible for their own materials, specialized tools, and meals.
