MTG Contest # 1: General Profile Scholarship
Prize: $1000 Scholarship
Eligibility: All individuals are eligible once an MTG profile is registered and populated
Must be a high school student
Due Date: April 1, 2009
Welcome student,
The General Profile Scholarship is based on “the whole package.”
To maximize your chances of winning this scholarship, it would be beneficial to fill in as much of the MoreThanGrades profile as possible with the most concise yet colorful material. What we aim to see is a well-organized profile that gives us the best overall impression of a student.
Some things to consider:
Show Everything!
We are interested in seeing both in and out-of school material.
Use the WHOLE profile
Teacher recommendations and coach and counselor contact information can help by serving as additional references. Ask your teachers, coaches, and counselors to sign up, find you, and rate you!
Video Tips
Many admissions officers do not have the time to watch extensive videos. Videos should be limited to clips (between 1 and 2 minutes in length) that clearly and concisely convey something about the student. Additional material can always be provided via an external link in the description area. Some example ideas include:
• Monologue or personal statement
• Sports montage or specific clip
• Music (performance or recording)
• Video with narration
• Original film work
• Anything that could distinguish a student to a college!
Be Concise
We want to get a complete feel of the student without the “fluff.” It is often very important (when writing resumes, essays, etc.) that there is enough, not too much information given.

At MoreThanGrades, we already know that you are great students and individuals. Although you have knowledge, interests, and talents, the one thing that you know best is yourself. Take the time, recognize your strengths and differences, and show us how amazing you really are so that we can reward you.

To Apply:
1. Go to MoreThanGrades.com
2. Register and Populate a Profile
3. Click on the “Scholarship/Contests” tab
4. On the subject line, write your name, MTG Student ID number (found in the print/preview section), as well as the contest which you are applying for (in this case: Contest #1) – For Example: John Smith, ID: 34443, Contest #1
5. In the message box, please briefly introduce yourself and tell us why you think you deserve this scholarship (No more than a short paragraph!)
